Verdict
The deciding factor is room correction. The Onkyo ships with Dirac Live, which is generally considered the stronger system and would otherwise be a paid upgrade. The Denon counters with Audyssey MultEQ XT32, more amplified channels on tap, and the wider HEOS ecosystem. Buy the Onkyo if your room is acoustically difficult; buy the Denon if you want the larger feature set and multi-room audio.

You have several 4K sources at 120 Hz, you want HEOS for whole-home audio, or you expect to add a second subwoofer and use the extra processing channels. Six HDMI 2.1 inputs is unusually generous at this price.

Your room fights you. Dirac Live corrects over a wider window than Audyssey and generally produces a more even result in rooms with awkward dimensions or reflective surfaces, and here it is in the box rather than a paid add-on.
Most listeners and reviewers rate Dirac Live higher, particularly for time-domain correction and in rooms with strong modal problems. Audyssey XT32 is still capable and its subwoofer handling is good. The practical difference is largest in a poor room and smallest in a well-treated one.
Only if you plan to use it. 9.4 processing lets you run four independently managed subwoofers, which is genuinely useful for smoothing bass across several seats. If you have one subwoofer and no plans for more, it changes nothing.
Both are receivers rather than power amplifiers, so neither is happy driving low-impedance speakers hard in a large room. If your speakers are demanding, budget for external amplification and use the pre-outs, which both units provide.
