Verdict
These share a parent company and much of their engineering, so the differences are build, presentation and price rather than capability. The Marantz is the better-built unit with a slightly warmer character. The Denon delivers nearly the same feature set for meaningfully less. Buy the Denon on value; buy the Marantz if the sound and the build matter to you.

You listen to a lot of music through the system, you keep equipment a long time, or the physical quality of the unit matters to you. The Marantz is the nicer object and sounds slightly gentler.
